ABOUT SHERRY

Sherry is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist with over 25 years of experience working with children and families. She has dedicated her career toward helping children improve their communication skills and assisting their families in creating strategies to foster their child’s development. Sherry understands the emotions many families feel when their child experiences communication difficulties and considers it a privilege to walk with them and provide support in this journey. Whether a child is experiencing mild or severe delays, speech-language therapy can help build a strong foundation for future success.

Sherry provides highly skilled services while helping children develop the foundational strengths necessary to build their language & vocabulary skills, eat age-appropriate foods, speak more clearly, and communicate effectively with others. Sherry is adept at encouraging children to overcome their challenges and enjoy the learning process. Using a play-based approach, she incorporates a variety of strategies to obtain attention, cooperation, learning, and progress. She believes in providing a nurturing environment where children can thrive, gain confidence in their skills, and strengthen their speech and language abilities.

Sherry has been fortunate to collaborate with other talented professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing quality care for children & families. Over the years, she has had extensive training in a variety of conditions which could impact development. She has also had experience working with children with a wide range of abilities and families as they obtain and learn about a specific diagnosis. Sherry currently specializes in working with children 1 to 5 years of age with developmental & speech-language delays/disorders and children 5 years and older experiencing difficulty with articulation or the production of speech sounds.

Sherry is a graduate of Radford University where she earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Communication Sciences & Disorders. She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and certified as an Early Intervention Professional by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
